Hyperborean Mice
Do you like pen and pencil role-playing games? Do you miss some of the charm inserted by Wyvern's early contributors? Well here's a fun looking game by Kiz the Wiz called Hyperborean Mice:

He was Wyvern's lead game designer in the early days and contributed much to the game's early mechanics (like Wyvern's unique spell system? that's Kiz right there). His involvement in Wyvern tapered off after 2002, but he reappeared in 2003 to provide us with new AI code (he's the reason why monsters flee from players when they are bout to die) and the short lived blood splatter effect. He's also a talented artist. Check out his Wyvern art here and his non-Wyvern art here. Hyperborean Mice is apparently well reviewed. See below for a description. If anyone decides to check it out, reply here telling us what you thought. Quote:
Trivia: -Kiz is short for Kizarvexius. -Kiz worked on the Darker Realms MUD, which Rhialto played extensively in the early 90s and heavily used as an inspiration for Wyvern. Rhialto credits Kiz with crediting one of the game's hardest quests (http://www.darkerrealms.org/dark/quests.shtml#kiz). He said it took him four years to beat and required extensive knowledge of H.P. Lovecraft for him and a friend to finally beat it. -Kiz worked at Amazon with Rhialto. |
