Default Filters and The Help Channel

I'll keep this brief -

Remove filters from the help channel. They can be annoying and more frustrating than anything, oft serving to distort the original message, perhaps more than intended - and seem to serve virtually no RP value. There seems to be less potential for abuse in doing so than, say, in 'ooc'. I don't think anyone likes it when someone takes over the help channel, and have my doubts it could become an issue. If it did, the change could be reversed or dare I say it, silences issued.

Thank you for your time. I would appreciate feedback anyone might have.

I absolutely agree. What do newcomers think when they randomly get responses in pig latin, and you can't even explain why that happened, because it will be said in pig latin?

I really like that idea.

In terms of the game, it makes sense for the filter to be in some channels and not in others. The help channel is one of the latter.

I will profess my lack of programming knowledge, so I don't know how easy this could be pulled off, but I know from experience that there is little more frustrating than taking a moment or two to write a really accurate and detailed description for the help channel, hitting enter, and only then do you realize you were pigstormed. This does nothing to add to the productivity of the help channel, and is just basically spam.

Curses you, and makes you speak in pig latin. Which is very annoying to try to decipher.

Yeah we used to have filters only in some channels and it just caused abuse.

So if you are pigstormed, use an uncurse scroll before you help a new player. There are plenty of players around that arent speaking pig latin to help, it's a non-issue.

If you are very concerned about this new player feel free to use tells, as filters do not effect tells. There is only one monster that casts pigstorm, so it's even less of an issue than guild filters and they are in every channel as well.

I am curious... how is this abused? Nevermind. I figured it out, but can't figure out how to delete the post, so I am editing it.

*shrug* What Arilou torments you with isn't my problem
So stay out of the graveyard and avoid reapers and the problem is solved.
Oh wait, the problem was already solved, used tells.
We arent removing filters from channels, they only get abused when folks "dislike" their current shout status.
Oh wait, I already said that.

Ok how about tips on how to remove the effects that cause the filters. Remove curse scrolls works on piglatin. What fixes being drunk?

Relogging or waiting. If your drunk your probably not doing anything all that important where you can't relog but if you are I guess just the waiting option or a tell of some sort applies.

I only did it twice when I was in desprate need of food. It is bad enough that I will starve before I do it again. I am pretty sure I tried reloggin.

Getting drunk is worse than starvation. You can't cast cure confusion in order to walk straight for 30 seconds while trying to get to food if you are drunk, FYI.

Relogging or waiting are the two solutions for being drunk.
