Joystick Programming language?

I'm not sure what language wyvern is programmed in, although I'm pretty sure its jython (right?). Whatever language its programmed in, I was hoping I could take some classes in that language later in highschool, or maybe college. I know it might not happen, but if it does I would like to know what language wyvern is programmed in, and if its classes are commonly available as classes, or if I should get a book to learn it instead.

learning a language is the easy part. But just as learning to spell correctly doesn't mean you're prepared to write a good novel, learning a programming language doesn't mean you're prepared engineer software.

My suggestion - if you want to learn to program, take whatever's available. Once you've learned one language and basic software engineering skills picking up the next one from a book is easy.

What exactly do you want to do? Learn programming as a job, or a hobby?

It should be noted that different programming languages have different strengths and weaknesses. There is no "perfect" language, despite what many will try to tell you. :)

If I remember right Wyvern is programmed in Jython. Which is a combination of Java and Python.

No; Jython is not a "combination" of Java and Python: It is Java written in Python. Simply put, you code in Python, and it gets translated into Java, which means that you can get along with knowing only Python, although knowing Java would be helpful too.

That is my knowledge of it, at least.

Ahh Thank you for clearing that up with me. I just know that it was Jython that Wyvern is programmed in.

I was meaning it just as a hobby, but I want to be good enough to be able to make some basic and intermediate maps.

You don't need to know any programming language to make maps. We use the map editor, also downloadable on the web page.
