Banjo

Yeah, folks, I bought a banjo (left handed, thanks much). I'm learning how to play it through internet lessons right now, but in a few weeks I'll be taking formal lessons.

And that's my interesting story for today. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->

I must say, I like country and I like folk . . . I don't like &quot;pop&quot; country, though. Old stuff is fine by me, Emmylou, old hymns, and such, but most of the new stuff, I don't like.

However, in my town, there is an outdoor drama (the Trail of the Lonesome Pine, look it up <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- s --> ), and it is set in the early 1900's, and while I already participate as an actor, I may also be able to participate as a musician this year. The banjo is a lot of fun to play, too, and it pops up in surprising places (whoda thunk that Matchbox 20 had a banjo?).

Mm, my sister played oboe for a while.

Yeah, they have a lot of metal in the base, I'd hate to get clocked by one.
