Default Paladin

Hello underlings,

I am trying to make a human paladin that casts his own resists. I am not sure what the resist spell formula is now so I don't know how much fire/water/air I would need to do that. So if anyone knows the formula, has some tips, and/or a good skill set idea, please share it with me. Thanks in advance.

Resist formula is (1+X) * 5% (or another way to think of it) 5% +5x%.

Max resist is 90%, 90/5 = 18; 18 -1 = 17. Paladins get -5 magical elements. 17 +5 = 22. 22 skill points into each element that you want maxed out. . .

Thank you Fergy. That helps a lot. I guess I won't be able to get fire, shock, and cold. I will probably cut out shock.

For recoil immunity, you will need "100%" in the resist, as you should know. This is achieved through 19 in a skill. So, essentially, you would need 24 trained in the skill for immunity. I know you aren't going to do this, so you will need to most likely wear resist rings as well when you want higher resist. Having a self-resisting paladin for many years, I can tell you that it is really effective. I'm not sure how it will be with all of the changes now, but my guess is that you won't have much trouble. That being said, I'll give you a universal tip about paladins: train 1 in blacksmith so you can check the percentage that your gear and weapons are damaged, it can save you a lot.

p.s. - Depending on where you train, you don't necessarily have to have a lot of fire/water/air trained. For example, if you are going to train in GP or AV, you won't need near as much fire but more water/air. If you want to be able to train anywhere, just train water/fire. Air magic isn't near as important.
