Default "Weekly" Updates from R

I'm not sure how many people still view this forum or how many view both the Wyvern subreddit and these forums. If you're not aware, R is (supposedly) supplying weekly updates to the Wyvern subreddit.

He made it to 4 updates. That was 28 days ago.

He's mentioned that he's been allowed by Google to devote 50% of his work time to working on the game. Did he fall off the face of the planet?

I realize this may not be the only cause of the problem, but it is incredibly frustrating! I attempted to post a "where'd they go" thread in the subreddit relating to this, but the post never appeared and no new posts have shown up in the last 15 days whereas there were new posts every few days before that. It is possible that the moderators tweaked a setting that aren't allowing new posts to show up or some such.

I played Wyvern a long time ago and I'd love to see it come back, I was an off and on player for probably around 5 years - though I don't expect that many would remember the name I used then (Laerad). I hate to seem so ragey about it but it would be great if something were to change. I understood before as R wasn't exactly getting paid to keep the game up or put time into it, and was, in fact, likely shelling out some hard cash to do so. But now he's getting paid for it. Should we, as likely future customers (since the game will likely be monetized to a certain point), expect a certain degree of quality and reliability?

Not making excuses for him, but it was 20% of his work time not 50%.

And I'm not sure if you read any other posts here but all of this has been said multiple times.

Ah, my mistake then about his time allotted. I hadn't seen any new threads here regarding the updates or the subreddit so I assumed there was no ongoing discussion about it. The post I made on the subreddit did show up this morning, though!

1) You can't judge how active people are here based on new threads as people spend a lot of time posting in the chatbox in lieu of making new posts. So you'd have to either be actively engaged with the chatbox or spend time looking through the archives to know what's been going on.

2) If you're a new user on reddit, you can't make a new thread on the subreddit without Bullfrogz approving it. Hence, there was a delay, but that doesn't apply to people like Rhialto.

3) Rhialto doesn't get paid to work on Wyvern per say. Google allows its employees to devote 20% of their time to side projects (as the following article points out that's about 8 hours per week: http://www.yast.com/productivity/bus...ogles-20-time/). While technically some of his paid time would be going toward Wyvern, he would be doing something else with that 20% of his time if he wasn't doing this as this isn't a special privilege that Rhialto has been granted. Rather, it's a company wide policy that applies to all employees.

Meanwhile, he still has to pay to host Wyvern with Google; they don't own the game, they're just letting him work on his personal project during work hours because it has a carryover effect of helping them improve their cloud platform. The reason for that is because this a relatively new service, but once it's been well tested, the usefulness of Rhialto's personal project will diminish and thus don't be surprised if one day he says that he no longer has approval to spend that 20% of his work time on the game.

My reddit account is coming up on its second year, so it definitely isn't new, but that was my first post of a thread to the subreddit. I guess that makes sense. I suppose it also blows me out of the water. Oh well.
