Pally Pic, Tell me wut u think
I was bored... And I made this pic...
**Edit: How about we use a picture which doesn't stretch the screen with a mile of empty space, eh? -Arilou Soz, here's the original Which 1 is better looking for a HoFfer? Last edited by Axorz : 06-30-2008 at 08:46 PM. |

. It's not as "cool" since it has that re-colored game art feel, but it's much cleaner. The other one has awesome Johnny Bravo hair but needs some work because even without the 80x90 canvas it's still too big (probably caused by the rays surrounding your 'do). If you just start with a 32 x 32 workspace you won't have that problem... but may find it hard to fit all that hair in one image, which is unfortunate. Also, your light needs to be coming for the southwest because right now you're standing on a rectangle.

Just remember that your HoF picture won't be changed again once you change it, and that any art you draw early on won't look very good to you later on. Keep drawing things for a month, constantly comparing it to official art and what other people have done. You won't regret it.

Another thing I like to do, that you might like, is the way you save pictures.
Every time I am about to make a substantial amount of changes to a picture (such as am about to add base colors, or shading), I save the picture, and then save it again and add a number to the end of it. So If I start drawing sillyelf.s.xcf (xcf is Gimp's native file format, I convert to gif later) and now want to add the colors I want or preshading, I save it, then save it again as sillyelf2.s.xcf and continue working. This way you can always go back if you don't like how what you were doing turns out. And I would also have all the pictures in a folder called sillyelf in my "pixelart" folder. Helps keep the mess down. |

Getting better
The one above it looks like a little sheppard girl or something, and it looks like she is wearing a bluejean skirt and red stockings... this one is alot better, looks a lot like the regular dark elf pic though. Overall you're getting better though, keep up the good work. Its always nice to see new art in wyvern |

I liked the armored shoulders and bandanna of the first one. Very cool I think.. plus in game the color would stand out against the other pallies.
The second one looks too electrified and crazy.. too much going on. The third one looks like a representative of the lolipop guild. A great NPC idea! The fourth one would be a solid drow rouge.. well done! Last edited by Beckhan : 07-03-2008 at 06:45 PM. |

ideal pally pic
Quote:
I think an "ideal" pally pic will have some distinguishable cool body armor. For example, I shrunk the above picture and did a patch job.

That's a good patch job from such a large picture! I don't know if your intention was to make a random pixel image or Wyvern image, but if you wanted to use that for the game you'd need to consider how things look standing next to other Wyvern characters. In comparison, you'd look like a skeleton because the image is much thinner and long-legged than typical characters. Such is a common problem with shrinking things... real human proportions dont translate to wyvern well.
