Actually, an entire suit of medieval battle-mail only weighed between forty and sixty pounds (except for a jousting suit, those were much thicker and heavier to prevent accidental injury). Contrary to popular belief, soldiers could run, jump, roll, and even swim in full armour - the whole mythos about a knight having to be raised into his horse by way of a pulley arose because that's how the aforemented heavily-encumbered jousters had to do it.
