Never put things in the main arch or art directories. Those are for general files that can only be accessed by arch wizards. If you do start saving stuff there, you are just going to make a confusing mess for yourself that you will have to correct if you ever submit your files to us (we will just send it back to you and tell you to fix it all before we look at any of it).
All arch, art, code, and music created by would-be wizards or wizards needs to go into a wizard directory they made for themselves... there's a folder called, "wiz" among the mapeditor files - Open it, make a new folder with the name of your desired wizard account, and then start creating sub-directories in there like "arch" or "py" or whatever. For example, go through the wiz client files to see how and where we saved our art. |

Windows gives you this error message when you lop off the file extension. If you make sure you leave ".arch" on the end of the file name, you should be fine.

Thanks guys! And lol at Zeo's comment on toxic bein' Axorz.
<arch class="wyvern.lib.classes.weapons.Sword"> <image path="contrib/taren/kashibold"/> </arch> I copy and pasted that in Notepad, saved as .arch and put in arch(in Taren in wiz). But the thing I don't get is, I also saved my pic(.bmp) in arch but when I open mapeditor it doesn't work, the pic. isn't there. o.O Last edited by Taren : 06-10-2009 at 05:14 PM. |

It is an object that I doubt you currently have in your map editor so I suggest you leave it out for now. You'll learn how to put it in when/if you become a wiz. Not to pile on, but are you sure you're as old as you claim to be? You took a screenshot of the "arch" folder. In it you have your art file saved. Yet in the image path you tell it to look in "Taren" for the graphic instead of "taren/arch" but you're confused as to why it won't work. Oh and, btw, don't capitalize your desired wizard name.

I have no idea if this matters, but the last line is missing the final ">" in "</arch>".
And Arilou, you should know better than to assume being good with this stuff correlates to your age. Edit: Just tried it out; what I said is his exact problem. If he fixes it, it should work. Actually, Zeofar, I've found that the older would-be wizards pick things up quite quickly. It was always the 15, 14, and 13 year olds who not only struggled a lot but had to be explained basic things over and over again.
I'm not saying you'd absolutely know everything at given ages, (obviously) but putting an art file in an the "arch" folder and telling it to look for it in the previous directory, then being so confused that you decide to ask for help and take the time to screenshot it and post it on the web, all the while you never catch on, is pretty dense. |

Still. It doesn't load on MapEd. I'm really sorry about asking you guys this... =.=;;
This is my arch-file for the path. <arch class="wyvern.kernel.monsters.PlayerImpl"> <image path="wiz/taren/art/kashibold"/> </arch Kashibold is saved in art. That is a folder next to the arch, so I really don't know whats going on. Lost =/. Kashibold is in .GIF as well. Oh yeah blackbeard, levers are pretty easy... Teleporters are too. O_O |

The only reason that wasn't working was because I left out the ">" at the end of </arch... Lol. Thanks, Khalon. And I don't think I saw Zeo's post on that. So soz. xD Anyways, thanks for the help guys. Hope to make wizard ^^. |
