You can always just kill them in some elaborate way to kill them if you don't want anymore dwarfs then your first 7.. Or you could just lower the population cap to your desirable number. But you still get nobles no matter what your population cap is set at.. I need a picture upload service that will let me upload a 75Mb pic... &gt;&gt; Then I can show you my mega fort.... (130 Dwarves, and am nearly ready to go over the Lava and brave the Demon pits. Only on my 5th year too so I feel pretty proud. though I am starting to have food problems. (My farmers can't keep up even though I have 10 and 3 are legendary growers...)

My fourth is about the enimies you can encounter.
My fifth is calling it epic.
My sixth is asking when I asked when I called getting to the fuel hard.
My seventh is saying I never implied it was hard.
My eigth is a summary of the posts I made in this thread.

No, I don't see any instances of me implying that getting to the fuel is hard, the only one that could even vaguely be construed as so is the one you first mentioned, and I already resolved that.

I think my biggest fort had 148 or so dwarfs in it. And theres when my CPU prevents me from going any farther.. Too much lag. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="Sad" title="Sad" /><!-- s -->

open init.txt and turn weather and temperature off.

That should vastly increase game speed.

Yeah, but as the game gets more and more updated changing stuff like that will start to make the game suck, so you can't rely on that forever.

(Well, not make it suck, but it will debilitate cool things.)

Toady one is Gutting and recoding the game for the next release and it will have more cool things (z axis, better water flow, etc.) and use less memory to run. (did I forget too mention non flat cliff face?)

But yeah, that will make the game even cooler than it is, and it will be mind-blowingly awesome just with this release, I can't wait for the one after that! And by the way, you forgot the ability to send out Patrols. (And to my knowledge, the Z-axis existed already for some time, it just didn't really work in a way where most would notice it.)

when i open it its just a black blank thing. is that supposed to happen?

nope. It is supposed to ask if you want to run in window or fullscreen. after that it goes to the game. Where (or when) do you get the black screen? Also, it requires open GL to run. if you don't have XP there is a chance you don't have that (if you have an older computer).

yeah it says window or fullscreen but full screen doesnt work. it says theres an error something i have to go window but in window mode its just a blank black screen.
