Rhinoceros the great
Hear ye hear ye people of wyvern i present to you a armor so grand only the greatest of great warriors have the power to put on this magnificent armor. An armor so great not even Exile the exiled has spent enough time from his homeland to even hear the whisper of its name. Carved from a hundred Rhinoceros souls at their prime from the savanah and forged by the greatest blacksmiths in Minath city. Who ever is to wear this armor will be given the Rhinoceros rage, a force so powerful not even a stone giant can withstand its mighty tackle nor can it be haultered in a state of frenzy.

Maybe you should email these ideas of yours to Rhialto to remind him that we are still waiting.

fyi,
these images are in RGB colors and have antialiasing, they will not work in the wyvern client. (they're quite good though) For images to work in Wyvern they need to be in gif format. (256 colors and only one transparency layer) |

Ok i think its fixed. Let me know if its still not in the right format. |

Format is correct, but now put it on a different background and see how the edges have white lines. You still have the antialiasing going, so the edges blend with the white background.

Ok format is good, Dracco helped me convert it from rgb to indexed (256) which also disabled the anti alias.
heres picture: http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...hinohelmet.gif This link is the picture with 2 different backgrounds for a better view of no anti alias. http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...600precent.png |

I don't know if it's just me, but the helmet kind of looks like a kitty kat face. Love your artwork though, it looks really good! Pixel art was never my strong suite.

I agree. It looks like it would fit Wyvern perfectly. Did you make these from scratch or edit a pre-existing image? Anytime I make a GIF image they don't come out as good as this regardless of how I make it

Yeah from scratch, what helps me out is knowing how to put shades on objects to make it less dull and more detailed, making that line with a dot at the end shines things, and adding a faint grey color made depth on the body.
You can go on youtube im sure they have tutorials on how to make crazy shades on objects. http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...comparison.png here is another example of shading to make things detailed, i added a air brushed white to the top of these shoulder pads to make it shine http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...t=example2.png Theres a ton of things you can do to make a picture look detailed like this Rubber stamp tool i used to capture a portion of my rhinos head and stamp it however many times i want to create the illusion of horns on top of the helmet. I can flip an image vertically horizontall or free transform it into any position i want, but it messes up the pixels alot so i use another tool like free transform called skew pretty much lets me rotate a picture 360 degrees without distortion, theres burn tool which darkens colors theres soften which brightens colors i can pick which brush to draw with a oil, a pencil, a watercolor, a air brush and within the brush theres textured or basic and i can also pick a grain to get crazy sprays like pokadots, or a grass grained spray theres so many. I made a grey ball shine stacked them together and took my eraser with a 50% edge so its not so harsh and pixelated when i erase parts of image to form the abs but this is bad with a 50% edge it leaves anti aliasing which lets the background seep into the picture which doesnt work for wyvern client that i recently found out, Dracco helped me out converted my picture into indexed using Gimp and with that it disable anti alias the seeping of the background into the picture which solved the 50% eraser problem. My program didnt have this tool. Example from for above http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...t=example3.png To get good practice making art draw it with 32X64 space like a naga picture, 32x32 so SO difficult, cant get much detail into that small of space, i tried making a whole body inside 32X32 i was able to get some detail inside the arms but its too small of a space to really make your art shine, but it will be good for wyvern if you can draw great 32x32 art they are as important as the bigger spaced art. Some more tips is i draw all my art BIG then using a tool called numeric transformation and set it to constrain proportiosn so it doesnt distort and look like a booger some times this works sometimes it doesnt just gotta find ways to tweak it to make it look nice, and when you do this create each piece sepeartely and overlay the others as in draw a head then shrink it, draw the torso then shrink it and then put them together theres ways you can make 1 picture in front of others so it looks like you drew the whole thing at once doing this helps your picture look less distorted kinda like what i did to the picture of the dark naga in miscelaneous section of the forums. you just got to keep experimenting with things if the picture doesnt look right keep altering it see if you can somehow change the view of it i made some ugly art trying to make the rhino chest piece and cloak see for yourself. This was first drawing of torso (junked and restarted with different view) http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...rent=YUCKY.png This was first drawing of cloak (let your imagination do the work) http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...nt=YUCKY-1.png Last edited by neverquit : 03-01-2012 at 12:51 AM. |

I like the look, great job!
EDIT: I think the helmet should have a more distinct Rhino Horn. I also agree you should show these to Rhialto, as a friendly reminder. |

Dang. How long did it take you to get this good at GIF art making? And do you suggest using anti-alias on the whole image before I finish it (as in don't anti-alias until the very end)? I've spent hours on single images for things like a chef hat only to have it look like a stiff white mushroom in the end.

Im not that good Arisu and Juno are better they can make awsome 32X32 monsters and hof pics mine look bad, i can only make good 32X64 and up.
yeah thats what i do it will make your hat look smoother if u draw it with an anti alias, convert the image to indexed colors when done it should disable anti aliasing, Dracco knows more on this. |
