That was in Alaria and it's one of the oldest maps in the game (Rhialto designed it). Unfortunately, it was a problem and it needed to go. I kept it in when I did a mini-redo of Alaria because there wasn't a lot to do otherwise and I didn't want to just close everything (particularly given that I did so for the giant houses already) but it would have been removed in the full redo when I had proper content to replace it with.
It's essentially an XP farm, albeit a small one that services low and mid levels. There's really no challenge involved, you just kill one monster, then the other, and collect your XP. It's therefore obvious why you liked it but monster areas needed to be better designed to balance risk versus reward.
